Missouri Legislative Session Makes History

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Senate will have a woman in the position of Senate President Pro Tem for the first time in its history after Senators voted unanimously to elect Senator Cindy O'Laughlin to the position.

In the House Representatives, the first Asian American Speaker of the House, Representative Jon Patterson, won the vote. The newly elected State Representative for District 117, Becky Laubinger says she's proud to be a part of the legislature's efforts to represent all Missourians and she looks forward to carrying her constituents ideas, and concerns, to the capitol as well.

Laubinger takes over from Representative Mike Henderson, who was elected as the State Senator for District 3.
