Highway Patrol Launches STORM Team Pilot Program in Missouri

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol has formed a new unit aimed at improving roadway safety and response times.

The Strategic Traffic Operations and Rapid Mobilization, or STORM team, officially began operations on September 1, 2025. Corporal Dallas Thompson explains what the STORM team is.

Thompson says the initiative will run as a six-month pilot program, giving the patrol an opportunity to evaluate its effectiveness in addressing traffic issues and emergencies across the state.
