Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has announced the return of its annual Free Fishing Days, set for Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8, 2025. On these two days, anglers across the state can fish without purchasing a fishing permit, trout permit, or daily trout tag.
Free Fishing Days offer Missourians and visitors a chance to enjoy the outdoors and experience the state’s many lakes, rivers, and streams without the usual permit requirements. All other fishing regulations, such as size and daily limits, remain in effect.
MDC encourages both beginners and experienced anglers to take advantage of the opportunity. The event is designed to promote fishing as a family-friendly, accessible outdoor activity and to highlight Missouri's diverse aquatic resources.
“Free Fishing Days are a great way to introduce someone new to fishing or to simply enjoy the natural beauty of Missouri’s waters without needing a permit,” said MDC Director Sara Parker Pauley. “We hope people will take this chance to get outside and connect with nature.”
State parks and conservation areas are expected to see increased visitation during the weekend, and MDC recommends checking local fishing reports and area regulations ahead of time.
