Clemency Request Denied for Lance Shockley

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - Governor Mike Kehoe announced on Monday that clemency will not be granted to Lance Shockley. On March 20, 2005, Shockley ambushed and murdered Missouri State Highway Patrol Segeant Carl DeWayne Graham, Jr. Graham had been investigating the manslaughter of Jeffrey Bayless, who was a passenger killed while riding in a car with Shockley.

Shockley was unanimously convicted of first-degree murder along with three aggravating factors. His case was reviewed and upheld by the Missouri Supreme Court, the federal district court, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United State Supreme Court.

Shockley is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection Tuesday, October 14 at 6:00pm.
