Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - With Missouri Legislators about a week away from the end of the current session, the open enrollment proposal for Missouri schools is still in discussion.
The Superintendent of the Central R-3 School District, in Park Hills, Ashley McMillan, says Senators debated the measure last week and added amendmenst and there may not be enough time for the bill to gain full approval before it could be signed into law by the governor.
Many of the school Superintendents in the Parkland do not support the measure, which basically gives students the ability to choose a school outside the district where they live. Opponents of the measure say it could harm funding for schools across the state.
The last day of the 2025 Missouri Legislature is next Friday, May 16, 2025.
