Bridge Demolition to Close US 67 in Jefferson County This Weekend

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Drivers traveling U.S. Route 67 in south Jefferson County should expect delays this weekend as crews work to demolish the old northbound Interstate 55 bridge over the highway.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, both directions of U.S. 67 will be completely closed during overnight hours for the demolition project. Lane closures will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, October 3, with all lanes closed by 9 p.m. Work is expected to wrap up by 6 a.m. Saturday, October 4. Crews will again shut down all lanes of U.S. 67 at 9 p.m. Saturday, reopening by 6 a.m. Sunday, October 5, to continue demolition work.

The project is scheduled to be completed before the Monday morning commute, with all lanes of U.S. 67 reopening by 5 a.m. Monday, October 6. MoDOT advises drivers to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time throughout the weekend.
