County Commission Approves Emergency Funds for Park Hills Senior Center

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The St. Francois County Commission has approved $13,830 in emergency funds to go to the Park Hills Senior Center.

Each year, the commission sets $50,000 aside to use in case of emergency at any of the senior centers in the county. The senior center in Park Hills is currently experiencing a shortage in funds due to an abnormally high number of meals served.

County Auditor Louie Sieberlich says the weekly cost is into the thousands.

According to Associate County Commissioner Kary Buckley, the Park Hills Senior Center feeds more seniors than most of the other centers in the county, however, County Clerk Kevin Engler warned that this kind of request couldn't become an annual thing.

The money needed will come from the Senior Board tax fund, and was approved by their board previously.
