Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The National Weather Service has issued Heat Advisories for the Parkland beginning Saturday afternoon and continuing through at least Tuesday evening. Forecasters warn the prolonged stretch of dangerous heat will significantly increase the risk for heat-related illnesses across the region.
Daytime highs are expected to reach the mid to upper 90s, with heat index values climbing to 100 degrees or higher each afternoon. Overnight lows will remain in the mid to upper 70s, offering little relief from the heat, especially for vulnerable individuals such as the elderly, young children, and those with chronic health conditions.
The extended duration of this heat wave is a major concern. Health officials urge residents to take precautions, stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity, and check on neighbors—especially those who remain without power following recent storms.
The current forecast suggests the intense heat could last through Tuesday, though that timeline may shift. Thunderstorms developing by midweek could bring temporary relief, but if they do not materialize, heat advisories and warnings may be extended or expanded.
