St. Francois County, Mo. (KFMO) - Dangerous heat index values are expected for much of eastern Missouri today through Thursday.
Although the highest values are to be found in the St. Louis metropolitan area, where dark surfaces and man-made materials will hold heat longer, areas such as St. Francois County are still under a heat advisory and will still see values hit triple digits.
The potential for thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday could drop temperatures and bring heat index values down along with it, but the National Weather Service in St. Louis is not currently confident that those storms will occur.
Be sure to take necessary precautions when staying outside during a heat advisory, including staying hydrated and taking breaks as needed.
