Highway Patrol Warns Drivers of Increased Deer Movement This Fall

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - With cooler weather and the change of seasons, deer will soon be more active and on the move across Missouri.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Corporal Dallas Thompson says drivers should be alert, as deer are not only more active during dawn and dusk, but can move at any time of the day.

Collisions with deer can cause significant damage to vehicles, and Thompson offers tips for motorists on how to stay safe while driving.

If a driver does strike a deer, Thompson says it must be reported if the driver chooses to keep it. He also notes that many insurance companies require a police report when filing a damage claim.
