Pilot Knob, Mo. (KFMO) - Iron County Medical Center in Pilot Knob is notifying the public about a cybersecurity incident that occurred late last year.
In a statement, the medical center emphasized transparency and reassured patients that the situation was swiftly contained. According to the hospital, they were the target of an attempted cyberattack, believed to be an effort at financial fraud rather than a breach of personal information. Thanks to the quick response and training of the internal team, the attempt was detected early and mitigated. At this time, there is no evidence that any patient or personal information was misused.
However, if any individual’s data may have been involved, they will receive a direct letter from Iron County Medical Center. The facility also warned the community about predatory solicitations from law firms or potential scams related to the incident. Officials urge anyone receiving unsolicited contact regarding the situation to proceed with caution.
