Lead Can Harm Development in Children

Park Hills, MO. (KFMO) - Health officials with the St. Francois County Health Department are keeping the Parkland informed on the dangers of lead poisoning.

Victoria Hiles is with the Health Department, she says it is important to be aware of the dangers lead poisoning can have on children.

Lead poisoning occurs when children lick, swallow or breathe in dust from lead paint. Mining has occurred in a large portion of Missouri known as the Leadbelt.
