Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Mineral Area College officials are celebrating the passage of the Higher Education Core Curriculum Transfer Act, a bill that officials say represents a major victory for Missouri students.
The legislation, which will still need to be signed by Governor Mike Kehoe into law, will establish a 60 credit-hour, transferable lower-division course block for five high-demand degree programs, including general business, elementary education, general psychology, nursing, and general biology of biological sciences.
MAC President, Dr. Joe Gilgour, credits local legislators for helping the bill pass.
In addition, legislators passed a 3% increase in core funding for higher education across the state of Missouri.
