Governor Kehoe Declares Drought Alert for Missouri

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - Governor Mike Kehoe has signed Executive Order 25-29, declaring a drought alert across much of Missouri through December 1, 2025.

The U.S. Drought Monitor currently shows all or parts of 85 counties, along with the City of St. Louis, facing moderate to extreme drought conditions. The order authorizes state agencies to provide resources and monitor impacts. Kehoe said the measure ensures agencies can “step in and direct resources to those struggling with the consequences of drought, while allowing for vigilant monitoring of conditions over the next few months.”

Missourians are encouraged to report local drought conditions through the Condition Monitoring Observer Reports (CMOR) system. Resources and updates are available on the Missouri Department of Natural Resources drought website at dnr.mo.gov/drought.

The order will remain in effect until December 1 unless extended.
