Highway Patrol Reports Six Deaths Over Labor Day Weekend in Missouri

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports five people were killed in traffic crashes and one person drowned during the 2025 Labor Day holiday weekend.

The counting period for the holiday began at 6 p.m. Friday, August 29, and ended at 11:59 p.m. Monday, September 1. Preliminary traffic statistics from the Highway Patrol show 222 crashes statewide, which resulted in 104 injuries and the five fatalities. Troopers also made 100 arrests for driving while intoxicated and 14 drug arrests.

On Missouri waterways, troopers investigated three boating crashes, which left four people injured. There were no boating-related fatalities, but one person drowned. Boating enforcement also led to nine arrests for boating while intoxicated.

The Highway Patrol says these numbers are preliminary and could change as reports are finalized.
