Missouri Opens Public Safety Scholarship Applications

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - Governor Mike Kehoe announced Wednesday that applications are now open for the Public Safety Recruitment and Retention Act Scholarship.

The program, created through Senate Bill 71, provides tuition assistance to Missouri’s first responders and their families. The scholarship covers tuition for eligible police officers, firefighters, paramedics, telecommunicator first responders, emergency medical technicians, and advanced emergency medical technicians with at least six years of service. Dependent children of those with at least 10 years of service may also qualify. Applicants must be Missouri residents, complete the FAFSA, and submit required documentation through the State Financial Aid Portal.

Applications and supporting documents must be submitted to the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development by November 5, 2025, for the 2025-2026 academic year. The program covers tuition and fees for the full year, including the current fall semester. The scholarship will also be offered for the 2026-2027 school year, with applications due by December 15, 2025.
