Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - Sheriffs from across Missouri are coming together to defend Second Amendment rights through a newly formed group called the Missouri Sheriffs Constitutional Firearms Alliance.
The alliance was announced Monday and brings together sheriffs statewide to promote responsible gun ownership, oppose laws they believe violate the Constitution, and provide firearms safety education to the public. Douglas County Sheriff Chris DeGase, a founding member, says the group's mission is rooted in protecting the rights of law-abiding citizens.
The alliance also plans to host public training events, safety forums, and discussions with lawmakers in the months ahead. Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak will serve as the board secretary for the new organization.
