St. Francois County, Mo. (KFMO) - Missouri shoppers will have an opportunity to save some money this weekend during the state’s annual Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday, set to run from Friday, August 1 at 12:01 a.m. through Sunday, August 3 at midnight.
During the tax-free weekend, state and local sales tax will be waived on qualifying purchases related to back-to-school needs, including:
Clothing priced at $100 or less per item
School supplies up to $50 per purchase
Computer software up to $350
Personal computers and accessories up to $1,500
Graphing calculators up to $150
Both in-store and online purchases qualify, which gives shoppers the flexibility to buy however they prefer.
The sales tax holiday is aimed at helping families prepare for the school year without breaking the bank. It’s also a boost for local retailers during a typically busy shopping season.
If you're shopping this weekend, be sure to check eligibility rules and price limits to ensure your items qualify for the exemption.
