Missouri Supreme Court Sets Execution Date for Lance Shockley

Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Supreme Court has set an execution date for 48-year-old Lance Shockley, of Van Buren, who was convicted of murdering Missouri State Highway Patrol Sergeant Carl Dewayne Graham in 2005.

In a per curiam order issued June 18, the court scheduled Shockley’s execution for October 14, 2025, at 6 p.m. Shockley’s appeals have been repeatedly denied, including a final rejection by the U.S. Supreme Court on March 31, 2025. Sgt. Graham was ambushed and fatally shot near Van Buren while investigating a fatal crash involving Shockley, who had fled the scene.

Shockley was convicted in 2009 of first-degree murder and armed criminal action and sentenced to death. He remains incarcerated at the Potosi Correctional Center.
