Missourians Rally for Cleaner, Safer Communities in Fall 2025 Safe Disposal Campaign

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - A new statewide campaign is reminding Missourians to safely dispose of unused medications and medical sharps this fall.

The Fall 2025 Safe Disposal Campaign is now underway, led by the Missouri Product Stewardship Council, the Department of Natural Resources, and several community partners. The effort encourages residents to clean out their medicine cabinets ahead of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on October 25th. Officials say proper disposal helps prevent accidental poisonings, medication misuse, and environmental contamination. Unused pills should never be flushed or tossed in the trash. Residents can find permanent drop boxes at local police stations, health departments, and pharmacies, or request a pre-paid mail-back envelope—an option that’s especially helpful for those in rural areas.

More information and drop-off locations can be found online at missouripsc.org.
