Rain Brings Relief to the Parkland Amid Ongoing Drought

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The Parkland received some much-needed rainfall Saturday afternoon and evening, bringing temporary relief to an area that has been struggling with severe drought conditions.

Farmington recorded 1.85 inches of rainfall, while DeSoto saw 2.34 inches and Potosi received 2.15 inches. The widespread rain helped replenish dry soil and provided a boost to local streams and vegetation. Despite the beneficial rainfall, most of the Parkland remains under a severe drought, according to recent data from the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Local farmers and residents continue to hope for additional rain in the coming weeks to help ease the ongoing dry conditions.
