Small Earthquake Reported Near Marquand

Madison Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A small earthquake was recorded in Madison County Tuesday afternoon.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a magnitude 2.2 quake struck just before 1 p.m. about 3.3 miles north of Marquand. The tremor registered at a depth of 9.9 miles. There have been no reports of anyone feeling the quake, and no damage was reported.

Earthquakes of this magnitude are generally considered minor and are often not felt by residents in the surrounding area.
