Traffic Stop Near Bonne Terre Leads to Meth Arrest

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A routine traffic stop by a St. Francois County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit early Friday morning resulted in a significant drug arrest.

According to authorities, at around 1:54 a.m. on October 3, a deputy observed a vehicle with an obstructed Illinois license plate traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 67, just north of Bonne Terre. After pulling the car over, the deputy learned both the driver and passenger had extensive histories involving controlled substances. The deputy deployed his K-9 partner, who alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. A search revealed a substantial quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine hidden beneath the passenger seat.

The passenger, identified as Garrett Laramore, was taken into custody and transported to the St. Francois County Detention Center.

The Sheriff’s Office says formal charges are pending review by the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
