Two Arrested in Fredericktown Traffic Stop, ICE Issues Detainer

Madison Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A routine traffic stop early Thursday morning in Fredericktown has led to arrests and an immigration investigation.

According to the Madison County Sheriffs Office, officers with the Fredericktown Police Department conducted the stop at approximately 1:30 a.m. on August 7. During the investigation, the driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), and the passenger was also found to be noticeably intoxicated. Both individuals were placed on a 12-hour safekeeping hold at the Madison County Jail.

A routine records check through MULES revealed that one of the individuals had previously been deported. Madison County Sheriff Nic Adams contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Thursday morning to report the findings.

ICE has since issued a 48-hour detainer for both individuals, who remain in custody at the Madison County Jail pending transfer into federal custody.
