Two Potosi Men Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges Following Traffic Stop

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Two Potosi residents face felony drug charges after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of fentanyl.

According to the Potosi Police Department, officers conducted the stop around 9:33 a.m. on May 4 for a traffic violation. During the investigation, K-9 Athena was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle and individuals led to the discovery of fentanyl.

James Alexander, of Potosi, was arrested and later charged with Trafficking Drugs in the Second Degree and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His bond was set at $670,000 cash only. Westley Utech, also of Potosi, was arrested and charged with the same offenses. His bond was set at $250,000 cash only.
